Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on apexspark.co.uk (our website), the ApexSpark sign-in service, and the ApexSpark web app used by our customers (at their own workspace addresses). It should be read with our Privacy Policy. Questions: help@apexspark.co.uk.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include browser "local storage" and a website's offline cache (service worker). Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) a website must ask for consent before storing or reading these on your device, unless they are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for.
2. The short version
We only use strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, and nothing is shared with advertisers. Because strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under PECR, we do not need to ask for your consent; we show a short notice so you know what we use.

Our internal administration console also uses a connect.sid sign-in cookie (24 hours); it is used only by ApexSpark staff.
4. Analytics
We do not use analytics or tracking tools. Our website and the ApexSpark web app contain no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking code. If that ever changes we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before any such cookie is set.
5. Local storage and offline cache (similar technologies)
The web app stores a few small items in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to us automatically and are used only to make the app work as you would expect:

The engineer web pages also register an offline cache (service worker) so pages still open with poor signal.
These are all needed for features you choose to use, so they fall within the strictly necessary exemption. Because a Customer Care draft can include an occupant's details, please use the app on a device your employer has approved and sign out on shared computers.
The ApexSpark apps for iPhone and Android do not use cookies. They store your sign-in securely on the phone (Keychain / Android Keystore) and keep a local copy of your work so you can use them offline.
6. Third-party content
Some pages in the web app load content from other providers. These providers do not set cookies through our pages, but your browser connects to them, so they receive your IP address and basic browser information:
- Google Fonts (fonts and icons in the web app and sign-in pages; our public website hosts its fonts itself);
- cdnjs by Cloudflare (the map software library on map pages);
- OpenStreetMap (map images on map pages, and address search when an office user searches for a site location).
7. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies you will not be able to sign in. Clearing local storage resets things like the help tour and any unsent drafts. Help for your browser: Chrome (support.google.com), Firefox (support.mozilla.org), Safari (support.apple.com), Edge (support.microsoft.com).
8. Changes
If we add, remove or change a cookie we will update this page and the effective date. If we ever add a non-essential cookie we will ask for your consent before setting it.
